InvestUK achieve success through a change in their event strategy

InvestUK organise an annual awards ceremony celebrating the Foreign Direct Investment industry and championing the key players within it. They approached 1331 Events to help execute the awards ceremony itself but what became clear once 1331 became involved in the planning was that they really needed a complete rethink on their overall event strategy.

InvestUK were struggling to engage their audience to raise sponsorship for the awards event and sell tickets to attendees.

1331 Events suggested they delay the awards dinner until later in the year, and instead run a series of smaller thought leadership dinners in the lead-up to the main event in order to stimulate debate around the topic of FDI, enhance their reputation as a thought leader in the area and thus increase engagement with their target audience.

“As always many thanks for putting on a fantastic event. I really like the format of these round table discussions that you are using. Makes it much more engaging and informative. Also some interesting one-on-one conversations were had.”
Jay Goss, COO, Aston Currency Management

Deliverables

1331 Events took charge of all the event logistics and suppliers in addition to reframing the overall event strategy and creating the new format and agenda. Notes from the keynote speeches were recorded and the content from the dinners was summarised before being pushed out on mainstream media and social channels. This helped drive further interest in the event from both potential sponsors and attendees.

Results

The new event format became a more attractive package to prospective sponsors of the event, while existing sponsors found themselves with an improved and more worthwhile investment. Brand engagement was maximised via social media posts across an audience of 8000+, supplemented further with coverage of the content speakers offered at the dinners by Financial Times.

“Thank you for inviting me to such an enjoyable and informative dinner. I feel honoured to have been included in such august company and found the speakers very interesting indeed….The organisation was faultless.”
Alf Torrents, Executive Director, Russo-British Chamber of Commerce
